X-ray analyzer: a brand new tecnology in Tor.Met

Quality is one of the most important topic where we concenterd our attention and efforts. Our misson is to provide products that meet estabilished requirements and are produced safely and efficiently.

At Tor.Met the quality department, led by Antonio Rimoli, is the core of prduction process. Continuos checks are carried from the beginnig of production till the end. Not only: we check also raw material, semi-finished products supplyed by subcontractors and products we recived from plating facilities.

Maintaining high standards requires continuous investment in staff training and the equipment used. This equipment must be capable of verifying measurements, imperfections, or other characteristics that could render the produced item non-compliant, with the least margin of error.

The Quality Department, which has become a full-fledged laboratory, has been enriched this year with a new technology: the portable X-ray analyzer.

XRF Analyzer

Portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers are devices that use X-rays to determine the chemical composition of a sample. Often used in fields such as geology, archaeology, and cultural heritage preservation, they are now widely employed in the industry, where they can become indispensable working tools for certifying processed materials.

Portable XRF analyzers consist of three main parts: an X-ray source, an electronic detector, and a data processor.

Their operation involves emitting X-rays onto an electrically neutral sample, which, in turn, emits characteristic fluorescent radiation. This radiation is detected and analyzed to determine the elements present in the sample.

At this point, the analyzer counts the X-rays and performs mathematical calculations to generate a result.

Tor.Met has chosen the Evident Scientific analyzers, which effectively meet our needs.

Not Just Material Composition

Used to analyze samples of various materials (minerals, metals, ceramics, glass, etc.), these instruments find particular application in the field of product quality control to verify compliance.

For Tor.Met, this tool becomes essential in order to provide customers with actual laboratory analyses of the purchased item.

The XRF analyzer allows us to take macroscopic photographs of the component and, in the case of chrome plating or other surface treatments, determine the exact thickness of the material on the piece.

It is an important resource for our work and a means to perpetuate the commitment to making quality one of our most important values.
